I Would Like to Go Over There (2022)

I Would Like to Go Over There is a theatrical, comedic and surreal dance theatre duet about the struggles of decision making - both in life and the niche career path that Watson found themselves in.

The work follows two dancers, accompanied constantly by their “real-time” dialogue with one another - as they try and figure out what to do from one second to the next. The text is a fast paced, witty and self aware conversation that spirals into crude arguments and complaints about the difficulty of the choreography - set to Strauss’ appropriately silly Pizzicato Polka. The work evolved from the wall Watson hit when receiving a commission and very quickly realising they actually had no idea what to make a piece about. Hence ‘I Would Like to Go Over There’ - which is at essence about the dancers quite literally just trying to get from upstage right to downstage left.
